July 20th, 1949- 75 Years

On this special day, July 20th, I reflect on the incredible impact my late mother, Sheila Lee, had on my life and those around her. Today would have been her 75th birthday, and although she is no longer with us physically, her memory and spirit continue to live on in our hearts.

It's been three years since she lost her battle to Covid-19, but not a single moment has passed without thoughts of her warm hugs, words of wisdom, and unwavering love. As I celebrate her life today, I am reminded of the joy and positivity she brought into our lives.

To honor her memory, I have planned a day filled with activities that she would have loved. I will spend time with my family, coaching my son in basketball and taking a leisurely walk along Alki Beach. And in true tribute to my mother, I will treat the kids to a special meal at the Cheesecake Factory, a place she adored.

While I may not have the same appetite for Popeyes as she did, I am more than happy to indulge in some delicious treats from the Cheesecake Factory. It warms my heart to know that my son, Grayson, suggested we go there for Grandma's birthday so she knows where to find us. This tradition brings me comfort and a sense of connection to my mother.

My mother was truly the foundation of our family, the piece of the puzzle that made everything work. As a parent, I now see the immense value of her love and the importance of using her superpower—her boundless kindness and empathy—in nurturing my own children, Vivian and Grayson, along with my wife, Lauren.

Today, I choose to focus on the smiles and memories we are creating as a family, rather than dwell on the loss. I know that my mother is looking down on us with pride, happy to see the love and joy we continue to share. She lives on through the love we carry in our hearts and the legacy she left behind.

Happy 75th birthday, Mom. Your presence is felt in every hug, every laugh, and every cherished memory. God bless you, and may your spirit continue to guide us along this journey called life.
